The interim assessment: an honest mid-point signal

The interim assessment (TTT) is an official CBR moment halfway through your driving training. It is not compulsory, but it can help you form realistic expectations about your readiness for the exam.

What is the TTT and what does the examiner assess?

The interim assessment is a driving evaluation by an official CBR examiner, halfway through your driving training. That is what distinguishes the TTT from a regular lesson: not your instructor but an independent examiner gets in and assesses your driving behaviour objectively. That gives a different, often illuminating perspective on your actual level.

The examiner focuses on the same elements as in the real practical exam: traffic awareness, technical driving skill, right of way, lane usage and behaviour in complex traffic situations. Afterwards you receive detailed feedback on strengths and areas for improvement. The TTT lasts approximately 30 minutes and costs around €110 in 2026 — paid directly to the CBR.

When is the TTT the wise choice?

We particularly recommend the TTT when you are unsure about your exam readiness, or when you have returned to lessons after a longer break. Students who have previously failed and want to know whether they have genuinely improved also benefit from an independent assessment. Your instructor naturally provides feedback too, but an external opinion complements that with a fresh perspective.

If you skip the TTT, you risk sitting the exam too early and wasting exam fees on a resit. The TTT is cheaper than a failed exam and gives you concrete pointers for the final training phase. Together with you we decide whether and when the TTT makes sense in your specific situation.
